Many cultures and faiths have interacted with Mostar throughout the years, leaving behind traces that are still discernible today. Drive along the Adriatic coast to the little seaside village of Neum, where you will head inland and ascend to Pocitelj through the lovely Neretva River Canyon. On a hillside above the river, the fortress-town Pocitelj is a well-preserved example of oriental architecture. After Pocitelj you will travel on to Mostar. The Old Bridge (Stari Most) over the Neretva River was guarded by Mostari, also known as “the bridge guards,” thus the name Mostar. One of the town’s most identifiable features and one of the most significant structures from the Ottoman era is the Old Bridge. On the way back, you will see Kravice waterfalls, a beautiful natural landmark located near Mostar.
